BUSINESS CHALLENGE – Why Occupational Health and Safety ?
With more and more industrialization and transportation of goods across the globe, work related injuries, ill health and fatality is one of the greatest challenges for the mankind. In 2016/2017 in the UK alone an estimated 31.2 million working days were lost due to work related illness and workplace injury, This equates to an estimated cost of 14.9 billion Pounds in one year.
It is a challenge for industry to understand and prioritize the Occupational, Health and Safety hazards and risks in their business processes. The need for an internationally acceptable standard to systematically manage the hazards and risks and improve the performance was felt for a long time. International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has adopted various existing Health and safety standards (such as BS OHSAS 18001) and published ISO 45001 in 2018, which specifies the requirements for a management system to protect against and reduce the likelihood of occurrence of risks
SOLUTION
